Prof. Damian Greene
Professor Damian Greene is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at City Hospitals NHS FoundationTrust and University Hospital of North Durham and also practices at the Spire Hospital in Washington and the Newcastle Nuffield Hospitals. He trained in Dublin and at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas and has a specialist interest in the treatment of prostate cancer and cryosurgery.
Professor Greene was one of the original pioneers of third generation cryosurgery in the UK and has over 12 years experience treating patients with primary and radiation-failed prostate cancer with cryotherapy.
Professor Greene is the chairman of the European Cryotherapy Group which set up and monitors the EuCaP database and he has published a number of peer –reviewed studies on cryotherapy in prostate cancer. In addition, he is co-author on an international text book on focal therapy in prostate and renal cancer.
Professor Greene holds academic posts at both the University of Sunderland and the University of Newcastle. He has been an advisor to NICE on previous guidelines and has lectured around the world on cryosurgery in prostate cancer. In addition, Professor Greene is a proctor in cryosurgery and has set up a number of new units in the UK and Europe. He has one of the largest single operator series of prostate cryotherapy in Europe.
